Helms and Huggins Earn All-USA South HM; Pfeiffer Men's Cross Country Claims Fourth at USA South Championships
Rocky Mount, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University men's cross country teams raced to a fourth-place finish at the USA South Championships hosted by N.C. Wesleyan University on Saturday in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Pfeiffer had three runners place inside the top-20 with freshman
Sawyer Helms (Mt. Pleasant, N.C.) leading the way with a 12
th place finish. He completed the 8K course with a personal best time of 28:18.9. Teammate
Cole Huggins (Trinity, N.C.) was right on his heels, clocking a 28:51.4, good for 13
th place and was also a personal best.
With their finishes, Helms and Huggins earned USA South All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.
Trent Rivers (China Grove, N.C.) ran a 29:07.9, which was a season-best, to finish in 15
th place overall. Teammate
Demetrius Maura (Charlotte, N.C.) also clocked a personal best with a 35:18.5
