After battling to a scoreless tie in the first half, Methodist got on the board first at 62:18 when Natalia Marshall-Hewett scored her fourth of the season after getting a pass from Amanda DeDomenico. The Methodist goal, was scored in traffic and beat Pfeiffer freshman goalkeeper

Pfeiffer responded eight minutes later when
Sydney Siders (Jackson, Mich.) scored the first goal of her collegiate career after taking a pass from freshman
Yailine Reira (Charlotte, N.C.) and slotting it past Methodist keeper Kaylea Carter.
The Monarchs would get the game-winner at 77:09 when Corrine Shovlain got her eighth of the season to provide the eventual 2-1 final.
