Lowery Runs to USA South Cross Country Individual Championship
Rocky Mount, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2022) – Pfeiffer University junior
Madison Lowery capped of her dominant 2022 cross country season by capturing the individual title at the USA South Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Lowery, from Kannapolis, N.C., claimed the title by finishing the 6K course with a personal-best time of 22:28.8, nearly 20 seconds ahead of Corrine Weaver, the second-place finisher from Meredith College.
Lowery, who was named USA South Runner of the Week four times this season, was also voted USA South Female Runner of the Year and earned USA South All-Conference First Team honors due to her medalist finish.
Teammate
Micah Welborn (High Point, N.C.) also achieved a personal best, finishing with a 25:42.0, which earned her 18th place.
Other personal bests were turned in by
Angel Skeen (Denton, N.C.) and
Jesse Sherrill (Hickory, N.C.), while
Kaitlyn Voss (Apex, N.C.) ran a season-best over the 6K course.
