Ellison and Horton Post Career Highs In Setback to Greensboro
Misenheimer, N.C. (Dec. 6, 2022) – Pfeiffer University got a pair of career-high performances from underclassmen but it was not enough to stave of visiting Greensboro College, as the Pride took a 78-63 USA South women's basketball win on Tuesday night in Merner Gym.
Sophomore
Tanaesha Ellison (Asheboro, N.C.) led the way with a game-high 24 points after a 10-of-22 effort on the field that included one three pointer. Ellison was also 3-of-4 from the free throw line and also had six steals on the evening.
Freshman teammate
Miya Horton (Lenoir, N.C.) returned her career high by pouring in 16 points. She finished 7-of-10 from the free throw line and was 4-of-16 from the field while connecting on one three-pointer. Rounding out the night for the Falcons was sophomore
Alexis Bynum (Charlotte, N.C.), as she had 11 points.
Hannah Isley (China Grove, N.C.) led Pfeiffer with eight rebounds, which also established a new career high.
Greensboro had four players score in double-figures with Audrey Jennings leading the way with 19 points.
The loss drops Pfeiffer to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in USA South play while Greensboro improves to 4-2 and 2-0 in league play.
Pfeiffer will take a break for final exams during the upcoming week and will return to play on Dec. 15 with a nonconference road game at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
