Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Trounces Mary Baldwin 108-71
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 11, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University men's basketball team was hitting on all cylinders as they trounced Mary Baldwin University 108-71 in a USA South game on Friday night in Merner Gym.
Leading wire to wire, Pfeiffer jumped on the visiting Squirrels and never let up. The Falcons exploded for 52 points in the first half, leading by as many as 15 points in the first half.
The second half was much the same, as the Falcons continue to extend their lead, that eventually reached 40 points late in the second half.
Pfeiffer sophomore
Dorian Miles (Greenville, S.C.) had a career-night, as he went 13-of-20 from the floor, hit three from distance, finishing with 30 points. He also added 10 rebounds to achieve his fourth double-double of the season and the eighth of his Falcon career.
Senior
Jerome Savoy (Waldorf, Md.) managed 13 points himself, going 5-of-12 from the field, including one three-pointer. Fellow senior teammates
Craig Sabb (Goose Creek, S.C.) and
Sean Scott (Waldorf, Md.) both had 10 points each while
E.J. Thomas (Charlotte, N.C.) secured a 10-point, 10-rebound performance to secure his first career double-double.
MBU was paced by a 24-point outing by Brandon Stoudamire.
Pfeiffer dominated the boards throughout the night, outrebounding MBU 51-39. Pfeiffer also forced 13 turnovers that led to 17 points.
The 108 points is the most scored since the Falcons posted a 108-95 win at Johnson & Wales earlier this season on Nov. 19, 2021.
The win improves Pfeiffer to 10-8 overall and 7-3 in USA South play while MBU slips to 7-5 in conference games and 8-11 overall.
Pfeiffer will next play at Merner Gym on Saturday night, Feb. 12 when they host rival Greensboro College on Alumni Night at Merner Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
All Pfeiffer alumni plus a guest will be admitted free of charge.
