Pfeiffer Baseball Drops Series Opener at N.C. Wesleyan
Rocky Mount, N.C. (March 25, 2022) – North Carolina Wesleyan got a superb pitching performance from Derrick Carter in a 13-1 win over Pfeiffer University in the opening game of a three-game USA South series in Rocky Mount on Friday afternoon.

How it Happened
The host Bishops wasted little time, as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning using a pair of RBI doubles to go ahead 3-0 in the opening frame. After going up 4-0 in the second inning, two more runs were plated in the third inning followed by another pair in the fourth inning to push the NCWC lead to 8-0.
Pfeiffer's
Jake Brown (Winston-Salem, N.C.) drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning to make it 8-1, but N.C. Wesleyan got a grand slam from Davie Morgan in the seventh to push the lead to 12-1.
An RBI single in the eighth inning ended the game with the Bishops taking the 13-1 win.
Pfeiffer's
Bryce Marsh (Asheboro, N.C.) managed a double on the afternoon for the only extra base hit for the Falcons.
Derrick Carter pitched a strong seven innings for NCWC, allowing one run while scattering five hits and striking out six Falcon batters.

Pfeiffer will look to event the series in game two of the series on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Bauer Field.
