How it Happened
Pfeiffer pitcher
Dakota Caughey pitched six strong innings, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out six WPU batters.
To support Caughey's great outing, Pfeiffer's offense came to his aid by jumping ahead 3-0 in the second inning on an RBI single from
Cory Lackey and a two-RBI double from
Zach Ferrell.
A pair of home runs, the first a solo shot from
Bryce Marsh in the fifth inning, and a three-run shot from
Brady Parker in the seventh inning game Pfeiffer the 7-1 advantage.
Things continued to unravel for the host Pacers in the eighth, as Pfeiffer had a nine-run outburst to extend the lead to 16-2, the eventual final.
As a whole, Pfeiffer batters pounded WPU pitching, pounding out 17 hits, five of which were for extra bases.
