Baseball Falls to No. 6 Lynchburg in Home Finale
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 27, 2022) – Visiting Lynchburg overcame an early 7-0 deficit to down Pfeiffer University 16-7 in a nonconference baseball game in the Falcons' home season finale at Joe Ferebee Field on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
Pfeiffer, playing in their final home game of the 2022 season started off hot when
Zach Ferrell lifted a solo home run in the first inning to claim the early 1-0 lead.
Pfeiffer also had a big second inning, which was started off when
Cory Lackey reached on a fielder's choice, that scored
Jacob Williamson from third, making it 2-0.
Ferrell then belted a three-run homer to center field, his second of the game to push the Falcon lead to 5-0.Â
Bryce Marsh singled in a run to go up 6-0 and
Alec Bell made it 7-0 Falcons when he laced a double to right center field.
Lynchburg was able to cut the Falcon lead to 7-4 after scoring on a fielder's choice and a three-run home run from Avery Neaves.
Another Hornet blast in the fifth, a grand slam, allowed the visitors to take the 8-7 lead. Another run for the visitors in the sixth inning pushed the lead to 9-7 and in the eighth, two more Lynchburg home runs, a solo shot and a two-run shot made it 12-7.
In the ninth, Lynchburg was the beneficiary of a Pfeiffer error that made it 13-7. Following the error Neaves hit his second homer of the game, this one a three-run shot to provide the eventual 16-7 final.

Zach Ferrell led the Falcons at the plate, going 3-of-4 with a pair of home runs and three RBI. Marsh, Lackey and Bell each had an RBI each for Pfeiffer.

Dawson Neal was tagged with the loss, as he threw one inning, allowing four runs on two Hornet hits.
Lynchburg pitcher Adam Dofflemyer earned the win by throwing 1.2 innings while allowing just a pair of Pfeiffer hits.

Pfeiffer will return to play in their final USA South series of the season this upcoming weekend with a road trip to Mary Baldwin. Doubleheader action on Saturday, April 30 begins at 2:00 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m.
