Pfeiffer Baseball Drops 10-7 Game to N.C. Wesleyan at USA South Divisional Tournament
Rocky Mount, N.C. (May 6, 2022) – Despite jumping out to a 4-1 lead, the Pfeiffer University baseball team fell to host N.C. Wesleyan 10-7 in the second round of the USA South Divisional Tournament in Rocky Mount, N.C.

How it Happened
Host N.C. Wesleyan took the 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly, but Pfeiffer responded in the bottom of the second with an RBI groundout from
Cory Lackey.
The Falcons then surged ahead in the fifth with Lackey delivering an RBI single, putting Pfeiffer up 2-1.
Two more Pfeiffer runs crossed in the fifth inning, the first on an RBI single from
Alec Bell and the latter coming on a fielder's choice from
Landon Evans.
N.C. Wesleyan got a grand slam in the sixth inning to go ahead 5-4 and added five more runs in the eighth inning on a three-run homer followed by a two-run shot, making the score 10-4.
In the bottom of the ninth, Pfeiffer started the comeback, with
Jacob Williamson driving in a run on groundout.Â
Austin Morton then laced a two-run single to draw the Falcons to 10-7, but could get no closer in taking their first lost of the tournament.
Up Next
The Falcons are now relegated to the losers bracket, where they will meet up with Huntingdon at 10:00 a.m. in an elimination game.
