RALEIGH, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women's volleyball team dropped s pair of straight-set decisions at the William Peace University Tri-Match on Friday afternoon.
Pfeiffer opened the event with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 loss to homestanding William Peace before dropping a 25-14, 25-15, 25-20 decision to Berea College.
Madison Honeycutt led the way offensively for the Falcons against William Peace with seven kills while
Mattie Hinson was not far behind with four.
The setting duo of
Kira Suttles (nine) and
Kylee Mayberry combined to dish out 15 of the team's 18 assists against the Pacers. Mayberry was tops amongst the Falcons in digs with nine while Honeycutt tallied seven and
Mattie Burris scooped up six of her own.
In the nightcap against the Mountaineers, Hinson and Honeycutt notched five kills each to lead the Falcons. Suttles dished up 10 assists to narrowly edge Mayberry, who recorded eight assists.
Gabby Edwards was brilliant in defense of a potent Berea attack by a match-high 14 digs. Berea attacked at a .280 clip for the match in recording 38 kills in 93 attempts against just 12 attack errors.
Honeycutt also had a double-digit dig outing with 10 while also serving up a pair of aces. Honeycutt added a pair of aces of her own.
