Averett Drops Pfeiffer Women's Soccer in Season Opener, 1-0
Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 1, 2022) –After a scoreless first half, visiting Averett University used a penalty kick goal to take a 1-0 women's soccer win over Pfeiffer University in the season-opening match for both teams on Thursday afternoon at N.E. Lefko Field.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
The visiting Cougars outshot Pfeiffer 4-0 in the first half, but Pfeiffer found it's offense in the second half in unleashing six shots at the Averett goal. The Falcons had several quality chances barely miss during the second half.

th minute, Pfeiffer freshman goalkeeper
Kaylee Ollis (Morganton, N.C.) made a terrific save on a point blank shot, but found herself in a scrum for the loose ball and was whistled for a penalty.
Averett's Celia de Diego then beat Ollis to the right side of the goal on the penalty kick to provide the lone score of the match.
All told, both teams registered six shots, with Ollis coming up with three saves in her collegiate debut.
Fellow freshman
Tori Renna (Wake Forest, N.C.) led the Falcons offensively, as she registered four shots with one being on goal.
