MBU Gets 79-59 Win Over Pfeiffer Men's Basketball
Misenheimer, N.C. (Jan. 13, 2023) – Visiting Mary Baldwin University got off to a hot start and trailed only once in the early stages of the game in taking a 79-59 USA South win in Merner Gym on Friday night.
MBU (8-6, 3-0 USA South) shot 47.6% (30-of-63) from the floor and hit eight three-pointers. The Squirrels also outrebounded Pfeiffer 31-27.
After leading at halftime 39-30, MBU went on a 22-0 run in the second half and lead by as many as 37 points (74-37) at the 6:255 mark.
MBU had four players in double-figures, let by Jaden Ignacio's 16 points. Brandon Stoudamire had 14 while teammates Quentin Hard and Luke Ogle finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Pfeiffer's
Taylan Rowe (Oakboro, N.C.) scored 14 points to lead the Falcons. Rowe hit four three pointers and had four assists in the loss. Additionally,
Daymon Beckwith (Jacksonville, N.C.) scored 10 points as the only other Falcon to record double-digits.
M.J. Armstrong (Gastonia, N.C.) and
Rashamel Butler (Ridgeland, S.C.) both had five rebounds each to lead the Falcons.
Pfeiffer (4-8, 1-2 USA South) will look to get back on track Saturday afternoon as they host Southern Virginia in game one of a doubleheader with the Falcon women's team.
