Brevard Wins Over Pfeiffer Women's Basketball, 72-62
Brevard, N.C. (Jan. 18, 2023) – Homestanding Brevard College used a big second quarter en route to a 72-62 women's basketball win over Pfeiffer University on Wednesday night at Boshamer Gym.
Leading 20-19 after the first quarter, the Tornados outscored Pfeiffer 27-12 in the second quarter to jump to the 47-31 halftime lead.
Pfeiffer closed to within 61-48 in the third quarter but would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way, eventually falling by a 72-62 final.
The win improves Brevard to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in USA South games while the Falcons dip to 3-12 and 1-8 in league contests.
Pfeiffer freshman
Hannah Isley (China Grove, N.C.) secured her second career double-double, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Isley was 5-of-10 from the field and hit a pair of three pointers for the Falcons. She also had a pair of assists and one blocked shot. Sophomore
Tanaesha Ellison (Asheboro, N.C.) also had 12 points to go along with eight rebounds. Ellison also dished a career-best seven assists and had a pair of blocks to go along with three steals. Another sophomore,
Alexis Bynum (Charlotte, N.C.) continued her strong play, finishing with 10 points while also hitting a pair of three-pointers.Â
Bynum has scored in double-figures in the last three games for the Falcons and also in five of the last six games.
Pfeiffer will continue USA South play on Saturday, Jan. 21 with a road game at Salem College in Winston-Salem. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Varsity Gym.
