Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2023) – The Pfeiffer University women's basketball team used a high-pressure defense to limit visiting Brevard to just a 25% shooting effort in a 59-49 USA South win in Merner Gym on Tuesday night.
After trailing 29-26 at halftime, Pfeiffer allowed Brevard to jump to a 36-29 lead  at the 6:22 mark. After Brevard made it 46-38 at 3:43, the Tornados went cold, as Pfeiffer went on a 20-0 run throughout the fourth quarter to take the 58-46 lead with 2:08 remaining.
Brevard scored just three points in the quarter, with Calli Wells hitting a three-pointer with 57 seconds remaining in the game. All told, Pfeiffer held Brevard to a 1-of-16 (6.2%) shooting effort in the fourth quarter.
