Pfeiffer Women's Basketball Takes Down Salem College, 78-73
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 3, 2023) – The Pfeiffer University women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 78-73 win over visiting Salem College on Friday night in Merner Gym.

Turning Point
After Salem cut the Pfeiffer lead to just 72-70 in the latter portions of the fourth quarter, Pfeiffer responded with a 6-3 run over the final 1:32 to hold off the Spirits.
Sophomore
Alexis Bynum (Charlotte, N.C.) canned a jumper to push the lead to 74-70 with 56 seconds left to play. Following that basket, Pfeiffer forced a turnover, as freshman
Hannah Isley (China Grove, N.C.) came away with the steal. After a Salem foul, Isley scored on an assist from teammate
Tanaesha Ellison (Asheboro, N.C.) to push the Pfeiffer lead to 76-70.
Salem's Dionne Sampson then hit a three-pointer with four seconds to play to make it 76-73. After a timeout, Salem was forced to foul, sending Isley to the line where she hit a pair of free throws to provide the 78-73 final.
Individual Leaders
- Freshman Hannah Isley scored a career-high 20 points and hauled in eight rebounds. She also had four blocks and three steals.
- Alexis Bynum had 19 points on a 9-of-16 shooting effort.
- Tanaesha Ellison scored 11 points and had seven assists, two blocks and three steals.
- Salem's Dionne Sampson had 16 points while teammate Alize Munn finished with 15.
- Minnie Griffin led the Spirits with 13 rebounds.
- Pfeiffer scored 42 points off of 36 Salem turnovers.
- Pfeiffer also outscored Salem in the paint 48-38
- The Falcons never trailed in the game, as they led for 39:44 of game time.
