Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 21, 2023) -- ThePfeiffer University women's soccer team settled for a 2-2 tie with visition Salem College on Senior Day at Lefko Field on Saturday afternoon.
Pfeiffer now stands at 2-12-2 overall and 0-6-1 in USA South play following the tie while Salem is now 2-7-4 overall and 0-5-2 in the USA South.
How it Happened
Salem started the scoring when Darilyn Nieto scored in the 14th minute to put the Spirits up 1-0.
The Falcons squared up the match on a goal from senior Chloe Johnson in the 22nd minute that was assisted by freshman Victoria Tita and graduate student Kayla Blankenship.
Salem regained the lead at 2-1 on another goal from Nieto, this time in the 47th minute.
The Falcons fought back to tie it up at 2-2 with an 81st-minute goal from Jadelyn Taylor, her first goal of her collegiate career.. Taylor's goal came on a corner kick that curled into the goal.
Game Notes
- Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Garver piled up four saves for the Falcons out of eight total Spirits shots.
- Pfeiffer peppered 10 shots on goal.
Next Match
The Falcons will return to play on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in the final home match of the season. Kickoff against WIlliam Peace Univesity is schedule for 6:00 p.m. at Lefko Field.
