Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 25, 2023) --The Pfeiffer University volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to record a come-from-behind five-set victory (25-27, 23-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-13) over the visiting Brevard Tornados on Wednesday at home at Merner Gym.

The Falcons were led by a double-double from Morgan Shrader, who registered 13 kills and 15 digs on the day. Mattie Hinson also added 15 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Gabby Edwards chipped in for with 17 digs to go with two blocks from Faith Miller.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Falcons dropped a tight first set, losing 27-25 in a game that was tied 10 times and had three lead changes.
SET 2 | Pfeiffer then lost the second set 25-23 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Brevard grabbed the advantage for good at 20-19 in a set that was knotted up 11 times before the Tornados took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 3 | Pfeiffer fought back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Falcons the set set three 25-22. Pfeiffer took the lead for good at 23-22 in a set that showcased two lead changes before the Falcons took over in the second half of the stanza. The Pfeiffer offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 4 | Pfeiffer continued their comeback, winning the fourth set 26-24 to bring the match level at two sets apiece. The Falcons endured a furious Brevard rally, hanging on to win after leading by seven points at 11-4 earlier in the set. The Falcons win came in a stanza where 18 of their 26 points came via the kill.
SET 5 | Pfeiffer lost the first two sets, but mounted an epic comeback to win the next three sets, culminating in a 15-13 fifth-set victory, and take the match 3-2. The Falcons survived a back-and-forth final set to emerge victorious in a stanza that featured seven lead changes and was tied nine times. Neither team led by more than two points in the set.
