Methodist Defeats Pfeiffer Women in Season Finale, 3-2

Fayetteville, N.C. (Oct. 28, 2023) -- Pfeiffer University got a pair of goals from freshman Victoria Tita, but the Falcons fell to Methodist by a 3-2 score on Saturday afternoon on the road at Duggins Stadium in the season finale.

With the loss, Pfeiffer completes the 2023 season with a 2-14-2 overall record and 0-8-1 mark in USA South play.

How it Happened
Pfeiffer started the scoring when Tita recorded her third goal of the season in the ninth minute.

The Monarchs responded to tie things up on a goal from Rianna Orello in the 10th minute, assisted by Yaneli Sanchez.

Methodist then went on top 2-1 on N Marshall-Hewitt's 12th-minute goal, assisted by Madison Hoopes.

The Monarchs grabbed a 3-1 lead with a 25th-minute goal from Hoopes, assisted by Madison Rizer.

Pfeiffer narrowed the gap to 3-2 game on Tita's fourth goal of the season in the 49th minute. Neither team scored again and the game ended 3-2.

  • Sophomore goalkeper Olivia Garver piled up four saves for the Falcons out of 11 total Monarchs shots.
  • Pfeiffer registered four shots on goal.
