Virginia Beach, Va. (Nov. 10, 2023) --The Pfeiffer men's basketball team held Randolph-Macon to just 20 percent from beyond the arc in a 3-for-15 shooting performance, but fell 84-61 to the Yellow Jackets at TowneBank Arena at the Jane P. Batten Student Center on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University on Friday evening.

The Falcons (1-1) had two players score in double figures, led by sophomore Doug Smith, who had 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Junior Alex Cunningham chipped in 10 points off the bench.

How It Happened

After falling behind 10-5, Pfeiffer went on a 6-0 run with 12:38 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Cunningham, to take an 11-10 lead. The Falcons then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 34-27.

Pfeiffer could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 84-61. Pfeiffer took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 34 points in the lane.
