BUIES CREEK, N.C. (Dec. 12, 2023) --The Pfeiffer men's basketball team kept Campbell to just 11.1 percent from beyond the arc in a 2-for-18 shooting performance, but fell 88-59 to the Fighting Camels on the road Tuesday.
The Falcons (2-4) had two players score in double figures, led by junior Alex Cunningham, who had 13 points. Rashamel Butler tacked on 12 points and four assists off of the bench and sophomore Doug Smith added two points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots
Led by freshman Creed Musick's three offensive rebounds, Pfeiffer crashed the offensive glass, pulling down 14 boards that resulted in 15 second chance points. All told, Pfeiffer outrebounded the Division I Camels 40-38.
How It Happened
Pfeiffer struggled out of the gate, falling behind 45-27 heading into halftime.
Campbell kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 69-41 advantage before Pfeiffer went on a 7-0 run, finished off by Ty Black's three, to shrink the deficit to 69-48 with 8:07 to go in the contest. Campbell responded and outscored the Falcons the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 88-59. Pfeiffer got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 29 of its 32 total points.
