How It Happened
Trailing 80-77 with 40 seconds remaining, Pfeiffer's
Clayton Robinson (Charlotte, N.C.) buried a jumper to pull the Falcons to 80-79. A Pfeiffer foul then sent MBU's Luke Ogle to the free throw line with 14 seconds to play. Ogle made the first attempt to put MBU ahead 81-79, but his second attempt missed and was rebounded by Pfeiffer's
Rashamel Butler.
MBU then fouled Pfeiffer's
Daniel Fulp (Winston-Salem, N.C.), sending Fulp to the line for a one-and-one opportunity with 1.5 second6s remaining. Fulp hit the first shot pulling Pfeiffer to 81-80.
His second shot missed and was a strong straight rebound off the rim, where the ball was tapped to Pfeiffer's
Donte Forrester-Jhagroo (Tampa, Fla.)
Jhagroo then unleashed a long three-pointer with 0.8 seconds remaining that found the bottom of the net.
The USA South officiating crew then met together at midcourt following the shot and ruled the shot did not leave Jhagroo's hand before the time elapsed, sending Mary Baldwin to the 81-80 win.
