N.C. Wesleyan Downs Pfeiffer Women's Basketball, 64-45
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2023) – Visiting N.C. Wesleyan University used a big first quarter and never looked back in downing the Pfeiffer University women's basketball team 64-45 in a USA South game at Merner Gym on Saturday afternoon.

After falling down 1-0 after free throw from Pfeiffer's
Shania Haynes (Charlotte, N.C.), N.C. Wesleyan took the lead for good at 9:31 of the first quarter after a Johnay Goddard layup made it 2-1.
The visiting Bishops outscored Pfeiffer 21-7 in the first quarter and led by as many as 29 points (48-19) at the 6:04 mark of the third quarter.
Individual Leaders
- Sophomore Tanaesha Ellison (Asheboro, N.C.) scored a team-high17 points and had eight rebounds. She also had a pair of steals and one assist in the loss.
- Freshman Hannah Isley (China Grove, N.C.) managed two points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
- Fellow freshman Miya Horton (Lenoir, N.C.) had 10 points, going 5-of-10 from the field.
- N.C. Wesleyan's Kayrisma Harrison was the lone Bishop player in double-figures, as she scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds.
- NCWU finished with a 25-1 margin in second-chance points.
- Pfeiffer led 8-6 in fast break points.
- Despite the loss, Pfeiffer finished with a better shooting percentage, as they finished 34.5% (20-of-58) from the field while NCWU managed just 33.3% (26-of-78) from the field
