Pfeiffer Falls in High-Scoring Game Against N.C. Wesleyan, 106-93
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2023) – The Pfeiffer University men's basketball team dropped a 106-93 USA South game to N.C. Wesleyan University in front of nearly 1,000 fans on Alumni Day at Merner Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Turning Point
After tailing by just four points (41-37) at halftime, Pfeiffer rallied to tie the game at 45-45 and took the 46-45 lead after a free throw from
Rashamel Butler (Ridgeland, S.C.) at the 17:10 mark.
NCWU then went on an 18-3 run over the span of nearly five minutes to take the 63-49 lead. Â Pfeiffer would trail by as many as 21 points (80-59) and would get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way, eventually falling 106-93.
Individual Leaders
- Rashamel Butler scored 25 points and had 10 rebounds for Pfeiffer. He also added four assists and a pair of steals
- Teammate M.J. Armstrong (Gastonia, N.C.) also had a great outing, going 9-of-12 from the floor, mostly on drives to the basket, scoring 24 points. He also had a pair of blocks.
- Daymon Beckwith (Jacksonville, N.C.) had 16 points and seven rebounds.
- Taylan Rowe (Oakboro, N.C.) hit a pair of three pointers and finished with 12 points.
- NCWU's Isaiah Lewis led six players in double figures with a game-high 32 points. He also had a team-high six rebounds.
- NCWU scored 24 points off of 15 Pfeiffer turnovers.
- Each team had 52 points in the paint.
- The game featured eight ties and eight lead changes.
- Both teams shot over 50% for the game, with NCWU turning in a 58.8% (40-of-68) effort while Pfeiffer finished with a 53.3% (32-of-60) outing.
