Pfeiffer Softball Drops Pair to No. 3 Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. (March 10, 2023) – The Pfeiffer softball team continued their spring break road trip on Friday, dropping a pair of games to No.3 Salisbury by 5-0 and 6-5 scores.

Game 1 - No. 3 Salisbury def. Pfeiffer, 5-0
Game 2 – No. 3 Salisbury def. Pfeiffer, 6-5

How it Happened – Game 1
Salisbury pitcher Lindsay Windsor hurled a complete game and allowed just four Falcon hits on the afternoon while striking out six batters.  Pfeiffer's Emma Bullin (Ararat, N.C.) went 2-of-3 from the plate with a double while Kenzi Lyall (Sparta, N.C.) also went 2-of-3 from the plate.

Salisbury scored twice in the first inning, scoring the first run on a groundout and the second on an RBI single from Carrie Jacoby.

The Sea Gulls went up 3-0 in the second inning and added single runs in the fifth and sixth inning to go ahead 5-0, a lead that would become the eventual final.

How it Happened – Game 1
Salisbury scored the game-winner on a walk-off walk in the home half of the seventh inning to take the 6-5 win over the Falcons.

Pfeiffer spotted the Sea Gulls a 3-0 lead after giving up single runs in each of the first three innings.

The Falcons struck for five runs in the fourth inning due to a pair of Salisbury errors and a two-RBI single from Emma Chopko (Mooresville, N.C.), giving Pfeiffer the 5-3 lead.

Salisbury then scored a pair in the fourth to tie the game at 5-5 after and RBI triple followed by an RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh with one out, Salisbury put together back-to-back singles to put runners of first and second.  Pfeiffer then gave up an intentional walk to load the bases setting up force plays at any base.

Salisbury's Emily Stockman then drew the bases loaded walk to end the game at 6-5.


Up Next
Pfeiffer will travel back to Newport News to take on No. 2 Trine at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning on the campus of Christopher Newport. Following that game, Pfeiffer will head over to Virginia Beach to take on No. 7 Virginia Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m.
