Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Breezes Past Mary Baldwin in Straight Sets
Staunton, Va. (March 18, 2023)– The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team breezed past Mary Baldwin in the USA South opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon in Staunton, Va.

THE BASICS
The Falcons won all nine matches on the day in straight sets. In doubles play, Pfeiffer only gave up one game. The No. 1 doubles duo of
Aleix Garrido (Catalunya, Spain) and
Benedikt Pfeiffer (Schliersee, Germany) won handily by an 8-0 score as did the No. 2 pair of
Andres Valdez-Arze (Bogota, Boliva) and
Mateo Sonaglia (La Paz, Bolivia).
The No. 3 team of
Caleb Phillips (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and
Clay Patton (Lubbock, Texas) also won their match by an 8-1 count.
In singles play, Valdez-Arze clinched the team win for Pfeiffer, as he won his No. 3 singles match over Adrian Santiago by a 6-0, 6-0 score.
Benedikt Pfeiffer also won 6-0, 6-0 at his No. 2 match as did Sonaglia at his No. 5 match. Freshman
Bogdan Stan (Kitchener, Ontario) took care of his opponent at No. 4 with a 6-6-1 score. In the No. 1 singles match,
Dylan Masters took the 6-3, 6-2 win.
Aleix Garrido won his match 6-0, 3-0 after his opponent retired in the second set.
BACK ON COURT
Pfeiffer will return to the Knapp Tennis Center in Misenheimer on Sunday, March 19 to take on N.C. Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m.
