Brevard Takes Two From Pfeiffer Baseball
Brevard, N.C. (March 25, 2023) – Brevard College opened the three-game USA South series with Pfeiffer University by taking both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Gil Coan Field
The Basics – Game 1
After a scoreless two innings, Pfeiffer grabbed the 2-0 lead when
Jake Brown (Winston-Salem, N.C.) drove in a run with a single through the right side of the Tornado infield.Â
Brady Parker (Oakboro, N.C.) then made it 2-0 after reaching on a fielder's choice that allowed
Cory Lackey (Wilkesboro, N.C.) to score.
Brevard would tie the game at 2-2 in their half of the third inning on a pair of solo home runs.
The Brevard lead would grow to 4-2 after single runs were pushed across in the sixth and seventh innings. The Tornados would break the game open in the eighth when they plated four runs. The big hit came on a two-RBI double followed by a pair of RBI singles.
Pfeiffer's
John Owen (Richfield, N.C.) would fall to 1-2 on the mound after giving up four runs in 6.1 innings of work.
The Basics – Game 2
In game two, Brevard scored the only run of the game in the seventh inning, winning 1-0. Each team left 10 runners on base in the game.
Pfeiffer's
Thad Lewis pitched 6.2 innings allowing the one run on just two hits while striking out 14 Brevard batters.
