No. 13 Pfeiffer Softball Splits USA South Doubleheader with WPU
Raleigh, N.C. (March 28, 2023) – The 13th ranked Pfeiffer University softball team split a USA South doubleheader at William Peace University on Tuesday afternoon in Raleigh, N.C>

Game 2 - #13 Pfeiffer def. William Peace, 2-0

How it Happened – Game 1
WPU pitcher Katherine Murphy gave up only one hit and would strike out eight Falcon batters in the classic pitchers duel with Pfeiffer's
Kenzi Lyall (Sparta, N.C.).
Murphy and Lyall would both strike out eight batters, but WPU pushed across the winning run in the eighth inning to claim the 1-0 win, sending the Falcons to their first defeat in USA South play.
Game 2
In game two, Pfeiffer's
Kali Morton (Lenoir, N.C.) tossed a complete game shutout, scattering three hits while striking out 10 WPU batters.
Pfeiffer scored the first run of the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from
Kyndell Warren that allowed
Charly Cooper to score to make it 1-0.
Pfeiffer got another sacrifice fly from
Adison Campbell in the fourth inning, scoring
Emma Chopko to put the Falcons on top 2-0.
After Pfeiffer gained the 2-0 lead, WPU only managed one hit over the remaining three innings.

Pfeiffer will next embark on a four-game USA South road trip through the Commonwealth of Virginia, taking on Southern Virginia on Friday, March 31 and Mary Baldwin on Saturday April 1.
