Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Grinds Out 17-9 USA South Win Over William Peace

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pacers and Falcons caught themselves in a close game throughout the first half with Pfeiffet taking the early 4-2 lead.Â
Tyler Finley (Stedman, N.C.) opened the scoring, putting Pfeiffer up 1-0 at 14:15 of the first on an assisted goal from
Jesse Ondrako.Â
Quinn Becraft (Huntersville, N.C.) and
Treven King (Apex, N.C.) would team up for Pfeiffer's second goal at 7:25 and King scored an unassisted marker at 6:45 to put the Falcons up 3-1.
WPU would then tie the game at 4-4 on back-to-back scores from Brewer Warlick in the second quarter.
Pfeiffer broke the tie when
Joey Ondrako scored at 11:03 and was followed by another Becraft goal at 6:43.
WPU once again kept it close with a goal at 5:15 to pull to 6-5. The teams would add on more goal each to bring finish the first half, with Pfeiffer leading 7-6.
Pfeiffer then used a 4-1 spurt in the third quarter to take the 11-7 lead and would limit the Pacers to just a pair of goals in the fourth quarter while scoring six of their own to take the 17-9 win.
Inside the Box Score
Becraft led the way for Pfeiffer by scoring five goals while taking nine shots. With the five goals, Becraft adds to his career point total, which now stands at 270, which places him third all-time and just six away from taking over second-place all time.
Jesse Ondrako (New Hartford, N.Y.) finished with six points on the night, scoring three goals while adding three assists.
King,
Zach DeFazio and Finley each had a pair of goals while
Joey Ondrako (New Hartford, N.Y.),
Tyler Ajemian (Fort Mill, S.C.) and
Aiden Keenan (Erie, Pa.) each scored once in the win.
Pfeiffer goalkeeper
Nate Woodhill (Hewitt, Texas) managed 11 saves on the night while facing 26 Pacer shots.
