No. 20 Pfeiffer Softball Wins Two at Meredith
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 11, 2023) – The 20th-ranked Pfeiffer University softball team came from behind in the first game and held Meredith College scoreless in the second in a USA South doubleheader sweep in Raleigh on Tuesday afternoon. The sweep of Meredith is the fifth against USA South teams this season.

How it Happened – Game 1
Trailing 4-1 entering the seventh inning, Pfeiffer plated four runs to gain the 5-4 lead and then held off Meredith in the home half of the inning to take the come-from-behind win.
The Falcons started the inning with three-straight singles from
Kenzi Lyall (Sparta, N.C.),
Kyndell Warren (Lenoir, N.C.) and
Gracie Griffin (Calabash, N.C.), with Warren and Griffin driving in one run each to make it 4-3. Sophomore
Emma Chopko (Mooresville, N.C.) would tie the game at 4-4 on a sacrifice fly to left field, providing the first out of the inning.
A groundout to shortstop would push a Falcon runner to third. Sophomore
Emma Bullin (Ararat, N.C.) would put the Falcons on top 5-4 with a two-out single to left field.
In the Meredith seventh, relief pitcher
Kali Morton (Mooresville, N.C.) struck out the first batter she faced then allowed a single the center field. Meredith would get the tying run on second, but Morton struck out the next two batters to earn the win and solidify the Falcon comeback.
Emma Bullin earned the pitching win, improving to 1-0 on the season while Morton earned her first save of the season.
Game 2
In game two, the Falcons would score single runs in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings to take the 4-0 win.
A sacrifice fly from Chopko in the first put Pfeiffer up 1-0 while a single from Lyall in the single gave Pfeiffer the 2-0 lead.
Chopko would get her second RBI of the day in the fourth inning on a single to left field and Griffin would get an RBI groundout in the sixth inning to put Pfeiffer up 4-0.
Kali Morton earned the win in the circle, improving to 12-2 overall while striking out four batters and scattering four hits.
