No. 20 Pfeiffer Softball Shuts Out Methodist in Sweep
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 15, 2023) – The 20th-ranked Pfeiffer University softball team rolled past visiting Methodist and didn't allow a run as the Falcons won their 10
th straight USA South game in front of a large crowd on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Jack Ingram Field.

How it Happened – Game 1
Pfeiffer sophomore
Kenzi Lyall hit a leadoff home run and pitched a complete game gem, allowing just one hit while striking out six Methodist batters.
After Lyall's blast gave Pfeiffer the quick 1-0 lead, the Falcons erupted for four runs in the third inning on RBI singles from sophomore
Gracie Griffin and graduate student
Caiti Mickles. Pfeiffer would also benefit from a Monarch error that allowed two more runs to score in the inning.
Three more runs crossed in the fourth inning. A wild pitch allowed
Kyndell Warren to trot home to make it 6-0 and RBI singles from
Taylor Parrish and
Emma Bullin put Pfeiffer on top 8-0.
Lyall did the rest in the top of the fifth inning striking out the first two Monarch batters then forcing a groundout to end the game.
Game 2
Emma Chopko hit a three-run homer in the Falcon first inning to stake the 3-0 lead for Pfeiffer.Â
Gretchen Wolpert followed with an RBI single in the fourth inning to go up 4-0 and in the fifth,
Jaci Cook supplied an RBI single to center field to make it 6-0.
An Abby Yarboro double in the sixth inning provided the eventual 7-0 final.

Kali Morton was dominant on the afternoon, as she scattered four hits and fanned seven Monarch batters in the win. Grad student
Sadie Lee also pitched two innings without allowing a hit.
Up Next
Pfeiffer will turn their focus to rival Greensboro College, as they travel to the Gate City to take on the Pride on Saturday, April 22 in a USA South doubleheader.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Penn-Wright Stadium at Barber Park in Greensboro.
