No. 12 CNU Downs Pfeiffer Baseball, 10-1
Misenheimer, N.C. – Visiting Christopher Newport University took a 10-1 nonconference baseball win over Pfeiffer University on Wednesday afternoon at a very warm Joe Ferebee Field.
How it Happened
The 12
th-ranked Captains got on the board in the second inning on an RBI single to center field to put the score at 1-0.
CNU would add five more in the third inning with the big hit coming on a three-RBI single to make the score 6-0.
In the Pfeiffer fifth, graduate student
Zach Ferrell reached on a fielder's choice and CNU throwing error allowed freshman
Austin Wood to score to bring the score to 8-1.
Two more runs crossed for the Captains in the sixth inning to provide the eventual 10-1 final.

Cory Lackey finished with two hits on the day to lead the Falcons offensively.
Pfeiffer will jump back into USA South play this upcoming weekend, traveling to No. 16 Methodist for a three-game league series. The Falcons and Monarchs will square off in game one on Friday, April 21 at 5:00 p.m. and will complete the series with a doubleheader on Sunday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
