Falcon Volleyball Drops 3-0 USA South Match at Brevard

Brevard, N.C. (Sept. 27, 2023) --The Pfeiffer University volleyball team fell to the Brevard Tornados 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 21-25) on Wednesday evening on the road at Boshamer Gymnasium.

The loss dropped Pfeiffer's record to 5-6 overall and 1-5 in USA South play.

Mattie Hinson finished with a team-best 10 kills on the match to lead the Falcons attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .261. Defensively, Pfeiffer had two players reach double figures in digs as Madison Halsey had 13 and Kylee Mayberry had 11.

» Daniella Balducci had one ace in the loss.
» Mattie Hinson had a team-high 10 kills for Pfeiffer.
» Pfeiffer got a team-high 13 digs from Madison Halsey.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Falcons fell behind early, losing the first set 25-20. Pfeiffer trailed by as many as six points as Brevard grabbed the advantage for good at 20-19 in a set that was tied up five times before the Tornados took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | Pfeiffer then lost the second set 25-16 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Pfeiffer trailed by as many as nine points as Brevard grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that was knotted up five times before the Tornados took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 3 | Brevard finished off the sweep with a set-three victory. The Falcons came up short by the score of 25-21. Brevard grabbed the advantage for good at 13-12 in a set that was tied up five times before the Tornados took over the lead.

The Falcons will step out of conference when they host the Bruins of Carolina University in a matinee on Friday, Sept. 29 at Merner Gym.  First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
