Pfeiffer Falls 96-67 at Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. (Jan. 25, 2024) --The Pfeiffer University men's basketball team got a 37-point performance off the bench, but fell 96-67 to the Young Harris Mountain Lions on the road Thursday.

The Falcons (6-7) had three players score in double figures, led by junior Alex Cunningham, who had 10 points. Freshman DeJaun Sidney tacked on 10 points, eight rebounds and had two blocks off of the bench while sophomore Doug Smith helped out with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Led by Sidney's three offensive rebounds, Pfeiffer did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in 13 second chance points.

Pfeiffer did a great job disrupting Young Harris shots in the contest, coming away with seven blocks. Smith's two rejections led the way individually for the Falcons.

How It Happened

Pfeiffer struggled out of the gate, falling behind 48-32 heading into halftime.

Pfeiffer could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 96-67. Pfeiffer got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 21 of its 35 total points.

Game Notes

» Pfeiffer found success from beyond the arc, knocking down nine treys in the game.
» The Falcons shared the ball well, recording an assist on 65 percent of made field goals.
» The Pfeiffer bench came alive by scoring 37 points to its scoring output.
» The Falcons were active in affecting shots on the defensive end, tallying seven blocks as a team.
» Pfeiffer cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 12 offensive boards in the game.
» Alex Cunningham and DeJaun Sidney led the Falcons with 10 points each.

Pfeiffer will return home and will jump back into USA South player on Saturday, Jan. 27 with a 4:00 p.m. game against William Peace University.
