MOUNT BERRY, Ga. (Feb. 17, 2024) -- Ivan Delp, Jake Blevins and Sam Safrit combined to toss a shutout on Saturday as the Pfeiffer Falcons baseball team blanked the Berry Vikings 1-0 in the season-opener on the road.
Delp (1-0) started and picked up the win for Pfeiffer (1-0), going five shutout innings while giving up three hits, walking four, and striking out three. Blevins was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going three shutout innings, allowing one hit, walking one and striking out one.
R. Rodrigues led the way offensively for the Falcons, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. C. Acosta compiled a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk. J. Turner also helped out, going 2-for-4 for Pfeiffer.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first and only time in the inning. Pfeiffer got on the board thanks to Ryne Rodrigues' RBI double with one out.

Berry def. Pfeiffer, 12-5
,Zach Ferrell strung together three hits, but the Pfeiffer Falcons fell to the Berry Vikings 12-5 Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader.
Chance Hunt (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Pfeiffer (1-1).
In addition to his three hits, Ferrell had a double to lead the Falcons. Ryne Rodrigues put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Cam Graham also helped out for Pfeiffer, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Falcons first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Pfeiffer pushed across two runs in the frame, the big blow coming on an RBI double from Graham.
The Falcons kept the Vikings off the board before tying it up in the fifth. Pfeiffer put up a three spot, highlighted by a run-scoring double off the bat of Rodrigues, which evened the score at 5-5. Berry then scored seven times over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 12-5 win.
