Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Falls 69-67 at N.C. Wesleyan

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (Feb. 3, 2024) --The Pfeiffer men's basketball team got a 25-point performance from the bench, but fell 69-67 to the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops in the late stagest of the game on Saturday.

The Falcons (8-10, 5-4) had three players score in double figures, led by Donte Forrester-Jhagroo, who had a career-high 21 points and two steals. Daymon Beckwith tacked on 15 points and Daniel Fulp chipped in as well with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Fulp pulled down five offensive rebounds to lead the Pfeiffer offense which grabbed 13 boards and turned them into 12 second chance points.

Pfeiffer did a great job disrupting North Carolina Wesleyan shots in the contest, coming away with six blocks. Doug Smith led the way individually for the Falcons with three rejections.

How It Happened

After falling behind 17-15, Pfeiffer went on an 8-0 run with 9:32 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Fulp, to take a 23-17 lead. The Falcons then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 35-34.

North Carolina Wesleyan kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 44-41 advantage before Pfeiffer went on an 11-0 run, finished off by Creed Musick's layup, to seize a 52-44 lead with 13:39 to go in the contest. North Carolina Wesleyan re-asserted control, outscoring the Falcons 25-15 the rest of the way to hand Pfeiffer the 69-67 loss. Pfeiffer took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 33 points in the lane.
