Baseball Takes Two From Allegheny

GAME 1

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 8, 2024) --The Pfeiffer Falcons rallied from down 10-6 in the seventh inning to knock off the Allegheny Gators 14-12 on Friday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field.

Sophomore Sam Odum (1-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Pfeiffer (5-4). The right-hander went 1.2 shutout innings while giving up two hits, allowing no walks and striking out two.

At the plate, the Falcons were paced by junior Wilson Lohrer, who went 3-for-5 on the day with a double and three RBI. Senior C.J. Acosta compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Sophomore Ryne Rodrigues also helped out for Pfeiffer, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double, two walks and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons were trailing 5-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Pfeiffer's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a one-run walk off the bat of junior Josh Turner.

The score stayed at 5-5 until the very next inning, when the Falcons put runs on the scoreboard once again. Pfeiffer scored a run on an RBI triple off the bat of Acosta, scoring Rodrigues, which brought the Falcons lead to 6-5.

Pfeiffer's lead had disappeared by the time the eighth inning came around and turned into a 12-6 Allegheny advantage, when the Falcons re-gained control at 14-12. The Falcons bats heated up in the inning, scoring eight runs, including a three-run double off the bat of Lohrer. The score remained 14-12 for the rest of the game, as Pfeiffer held on for the win.

In game two, Robbie Brown collected four RBIs to help lead the Pfeiffer Falcons over the Allegheny Gators 14-10.

Nate Callahan (2-0) got the pitching win for Pfeiffer (6-4). The right-hander went one inning, giving up five runs, two earned, on one hit, allowing three walks and striking out one. Sophomore Joe Javier started the ballgame and went two shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking one and striking out six.

Brown went 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk in addition to his four RBIs for the Falcons. Senior C.J. Acosta furnished a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk and an RBI. Javier also chipped in for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons scored in six different innings on the way to victory. Pfeiffer took the lead for good at 8-7 in the seventh inning on a two-run single off the bat of Javier.
