NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (April 2, 2024) --Senior Cory Lackey totaled three hits, but the Pfeiffer Falcons fell to the No. 18 Christopher Newport Captains by a 12-2 score on Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Dylan Dula (0-2) got the ball to start for Pfeiffer (9-13) and absorbed the loss.
In addition to his three hits, Lackey had a triple to lead the Falcons. Junior Josh Turner compiled a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3. Senior Thomas Ashby also chipped in for Pfeiffer, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Turner came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board.
The Captains then rallied to score 12 runs and take a 12-1 lead before the Falcons got back on the board in the ninth. Lackey came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer, which brought the score to 12-2 in favor of the Captains. The ballgame ended with that ninth inning rally falling short.
