Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Caps Unbeaten USA South Slate With Rout of Rival Greensboro
Misenheimer, N.C. (April 27, 2024) – The Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team capped an unbeaten USA South slate with a 22-8 dismantling of rival Greensboro on a picturesque afternoon at Lefko-Mills Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons jumped up 3-0 in the first quarter and led 8-0 in the second quarter before Greensboro scored their first goal. Pfeiffer responded with two more scores to push the lead to 10-1.
Greensboro then answered with three straight scores, two of which were on "man-up" opportunities to pull to 10-4.
Pfeiffer then closed the second quarter with a "down goal" with 19 seconds before halftime to take the 11-4 lead into the break.
In the third quarter, Pfeiffer scored twice within the first minute to go up 13-4. Each team scored often in the quarter, with Pfeiffer taking the 18-7 lead into the final quarter.
Pfeiffer would outscore the Pride 4-1 in the final frame to take the 22-8 win.
Inside the Box Score
Pfeiffer had eight players score goals in the game, with
Zach DeFazio notching a game-high seven goals. He also added a pair of assists on the afternoon.
Teammates
Khyler Johnson and
Trent Orr each had three scores each with
Jared Butler,
Zach Gignac, and
Nick Pekins all scoring twice each.
Malcom Meadows and
Tyler Finley capped the scoring with one goal each.
Defensively,
Brandon Luft,
William Wozniak and
Evan Jenkins each caused three turnovers, while Lift led the way with four ground balls. Wozniak, Jenkins, Russell Davis and Gignac all had three ground ball pick-ups in the win.

Jason Rowland had a terrific game in net, making 20 saves on the afternoon while picking up the win.

The Falcons will return to play on Thursday, May 2 in the semifinals of the USA South Tournament that will be held on the turf at Lefko-Mills Field. The top-seeded Falcons will take on the winner of the Tuesday, April 30 match between No. 5 LaGrange and No. 4 Methodist.
Face off on Thursday is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
