Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Earns 85-70 Home Win Over Methodist

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Jan. 15, 2025) --The Pfeiffer men's basketball team got a 36-point performance from the bench on the way to an 85-70 victory over the visiting Methodist Monarchs on Wednesday night in Merner Gym

The Falcons (6-6, 2-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Justin Gaten, who had 19 points. Daymon Beckwith tacked on 16 points from the bench and Daniel Fulp chipped in as well with 12 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

Pfeiffer shared the ball well in Wednesday's game, racking up 19 assists on 29 made field goals. Doug Smith's six assists led the Falcons and Clayton Robinson also chipped in with three assists of his own.

Pfeiffer did a great job disrupting Methodist shots, coming away with seven blocks. Fulp's two rejections led the way individually for the Falcons.

How It Happened

After falling behind 32-26, Pfeiffer went on a 9-0 run with 3:22 left in the first half to take a 35-32 lead. The Falcons then maintained that lead and entered halftime with a 41-38 advantage. Pfeiffer relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down eight shots to account for 24 of its 41 points.

Pfeiffer kept its lead intact before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Robinson's layup, to grow the lead to 49-40 with 15:00 to go in the contest. The Falcons kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 85-70 win. Pfeiffer took care of business in the paint, recording 26 of its 44 points in the lane.
