RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 25, 2025) --Senior Daymon Beckwith hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining to push the Pfeiffer men's basketball team up for good in a 79-78 win over the William Peace Pacers on the road Saturday.
The Falcons (9-6, 5-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Beckwith, who had 14 points. Alex Cunningham tacked on 13 points and Daniel Fulp chipped in as well with 11 points.
The Pfeiffer defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 15 William Peace turnovers while committing eight. Those takeaways turned into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Drake Stewart led the way individually for the Falcons with two steals.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 9-5 advantage, Pfeiffer went on a 6-0 run with 15:42 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Donte Forrester-Jhagroo, to increase its lead to 15-5. The Falcons then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 42-36.
After intermission, Pfeiffer kept the Pacers from increasing their lead before going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Doug Smith's layup, to even the score at 64 all with 7:34 to go in the contest. The Falcons kept the rally going and took the lead for good on Beckwith's three-pointer with 00:08 left to grab the 79-78 victory. Pfeiffer capitalized on nine William Peace turnovers in the period, collecting 11 points off those turnovers.
