Falcons Rally Late to Win at Lynchburg

Lynchburg, Va. (Nov. 13, 2025) —
Doug Smith scored 23 points and Pfeiffer University held off Lynchburg 95-89 on Thursday night at Turner Gym.

Smith, a senior, shot 7-of-13 from the field and added nine free throws for the Falcons (3-1). Sophomore guard Drake Stewart chipped in 16 points, including two key layups in the final minute, while Zach Sloan had 14 points and five rebounds. Pfeiffer shot 50.7% overall and hit 10 3-pointers.

The Falcons led 46-37 at halftime and built a 77-71 cushion midway through the second half, but Lynchburg rallied to tie it at 89 on Elijah Thomas' free throw with 1:27 left. Stewart answered with a layup at 1:14, then scored again in transition with 38 seconds remaining to put Pfeiffer ahead for good.

Jamarcus Brown led Lynchburg (1-2) with 27 points and six rebounds. Piercen Young added 13 points and 10 boards.

Pfeiffer scored 44 points in the paint and converted 17 of 20 free throws. Lynchburg dominated inside with 60 paint points but committed 14 turnovers.

Pfeiffer will return to play on Nov. 22 at 3:00 p.m. when they will take on Colorado College at the Elder/Friedman Holiday Classic hosted by 17th-ranked Hampden-Sydney.
