Fellow senior Sean Sucarichi added 18 points and five assists, while DeJaun Sidney posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Pfeiffer (1-1) trailed by one with under a minute remaining before Smith sank a free throw to give the Falcons a 78-74 lead. Centenary's Quentin Beverly hit three free throws in the final minute to pull the Gents within one, but a last-second three-point attempt fell short.

The Falcons shot 42 percent from the field and outscored Centenary 50-38 in the paint. Pfeiffer also held a 46-36 edge on the boards and recorded 17 assists on 29 made field goals.

Pfeiffer led 35-31 at halftime and maintained composure in a back-and-forth second half that featured five ties and 11 lead changes.

The Falcons will return to play in their home opener in Merner Gym on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m. against Johnson & Wales.
