MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2025) --The Pfeiffer University men's basketball grabbed a pivotal USA South win over visiting Brevard College, winning 81-75 in Merner Gym on  Tuesday.
The Falcons (11-7, 7-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Daymon Beckwith, who tied his career high of 23 points while adding four steals. Doug Smith tacked on 14 points and Justin Gaten contributed 11 points in the win.
Pfeiffer out-rebounded Brevard 37-23 in Tuesday's game, led by Daniel Fulp's seven boards. The Falcons also grabbed 12 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second chance points.
How It Happened
After falling behind 28-21, Pfeiffer went on a 9-0 run with 5:51 left in the first half to take a 30-28 lead. The Falcons then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 41-38 advantage. Pfeiffer did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 22 of its 41 points close to the basket.
The Tornados proceeded to tie things up at 54-54 before Pfeiffer went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Clayton Robinson's three, to seize a 59-54 lead with 9:44 to go in the contest. The Falcons kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 81-75 win. Pfeiffer took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 40 points in the lane.
