Hudler's Career Night Lifts Pfeiffer Women Over Greensboro 63-40

GREENSBORO, N.C. (Feb. 4, 2025) --Pfeiffer senior Kenedie Hudler scored a career-high 17 points while hitting five three-pointers to help lift the Pfeiffer women's basketball team to a 63-40 road win over rival Greensboro at Hanes Gym on Tuesday night.

In addtion to Hudler, the Falcons (8-10, 6-6) had two other players score in double figures, with freshman Ava Hairston also scoring 17 points while posting five steals. Senior Alexis Bynum chipped in as well with 12 points and continues her quest for 1,000 career points.  Bynum currently has 925 career points.

Led by Hairston's two offensive rebounds, Pfeiffer did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 14 boards that resulted in eight second chance points.

Pfeiffer's defense held Greensboro without a three-pointer and limited the Pride to just 32 percent from the field.

The Pride did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with seven offensive rebounds and managed six second chance points while Pfeiffer cleared 28 defensive rebounds.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 5-4 advantage, Pfeiffer went on a 6-0 run with 6:58 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Hudler, to increase its lead to 11-4. The Falcons then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 14-9 advantage. Pfeiffer relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 14 points.

Pfeiffer kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 9-0 run starting at the 9:38 mark in the second period, highlighted by a three from Hairston, to increase its lead to 23-9. The Pride cut into that lead, but the Falcons still enjoyed a 27-18 advantage heading into halftime. Pfeiffer dominated in the paint, scoring eight of its 13 points close to the basket.

Pfeiffer continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 16-0 run, punctuated by a three from Hairston, to expand its lead further to 45-20 with 1:05 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Pride had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Falcons still entered the fourth quarter with a 45-22 edge. Pfeiffer knocked down three three-pointers in the quarter to score nine of its 18 total points.

Pfeiffer kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Janyla Duncan's three, to grow the lead to 59-36 with 2:31 to go in the contest. The Falcons held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 63-40 win. Pfeiffer took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 10 of its 18 points in the paint.
