Pfeiffer Men's Tennis Blanks Southern Virginia, 7-0

Misenheimer, N.C. (April 15, 2025)– The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team swept all nine matches to take a 7-0 USA South win over visiting Southern Virginia University on a windy Tuesday afternoon at the Knapp Tennis Center.

RECORDS
Southern Virginia – 6-6, 2-3 USA South
Pfeiffer – 12-5, 3-2 USA South


THE BASICS
After winning the doubles point by taking all three matches, Pfeiffer's Andres Valdes-Arze clinched the dual team win by winning his No. 6 singles match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.

Prior to the clinching match, freshman Aissultan Mukhambetov continued his strong play at No.4, winning 6-1, 6-3.  Bogdan Stan also would win his No. 6 match by a 6-4, 6-1 final.

Jayden Wellman (No. 3), Benedikt Pfeiffer (No. 1) and Mathius Dessureau (No. 2) would round on the match with hard-fought wins.

The Next Match
Pfeiffer will return to play on Saturday, April 19 in their home finale against William Peace.  First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

There is also a possibility of Pfeiffer adding another home match that would be played on Thursday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. against a to-be-determined opponent. 

The status of that match depends on the outcome of a tournament match on Wednesday afternoon.
