Falcons Move to 12-0 in USA South Play After Sweep of Methodist

GAME 1 | No. 24 Pfeiffer 3, Methodist 0

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The No. 24 Pfeiffer University softball team moved tom 12-0 in USA South play after a doubleheader sweep of visiting Methodist University at a warm Jack Ingram Field on Saturday afternoon.

Senior pitcher Emma Bullin was dealing on Saturday, hurling a three-hit shutout as Pfeiffer downed Methodist 3-0 in game one.

Bullin (17-4) went the distance for Pfeiffer (23-7, 11-0), scattering three hits, walking one while striking out six.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Junior Landry Stewart came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board.

The Falcons then tacked on runs in the second inning when they scored two times. That two-run inning was punctuated by senior Emma Chopko's run-scoring single.

GAME NOTES

In game two Bullin and freshman Peyton Lane combined to toss a shutout as Pfeiffer blanked the Methodist Monarchs 10-0 in game two.

Bullin (18-4) started and picked up the win for Pfeiffer (23-7, 12-0 USA South), going four shutout innings while giving up one hit, walking none, and striking out three. Lane was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning, allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.

In the batter's box, the Falcons were led by sophomore Emily Dickerson, who went 1-for-2 on the day with a home run, a walk and three RBI. Bullin furnished a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double. Senior Gretchen Wolpert also helped out for Pfeiffer, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding two RBI.

The Falcons then tacked on runs in the fourth inning when they scored six times. The big hits in that inning were a two-run single off the bat of Wolpert and a two-run single from senior Jaci Cook.
