Pfeiffer Softball Wins Two at Southern Virginia

GAME 1 | Pfeiffer 3, Southern Virginia 0

BUENA VISTA, Va. (April 4, 2025) --Senior pitcher Emma Bullin tossed a shutout to lead the Pfeiffer Falcons over the Southern Virginia Knights 3-0 in game one of a USA South doubleheader on Friday afternoon.

Bullin (13-4) went the distance for 24th-ranked Pfeiffer (19-7, 7-0), scattering six hits, walking none and striking out four Knight batters

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took the lead for good in the first, thanks to Gracie Griffin's RBI double with one out.

The Falcons then tacked on runs in the fourth and seventh innings with the final run coming on an RBI single off the bat of Landry Stewart.

GAME NOTES

» Bullin tossed a six-hit shutout for the Falcons.
» The Falcons power output was led by Griffin, who picked up two extra base hits in the ballgame.
» Pfeiffer's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed one run across.
» Pfeiffer grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first and didn't surrender that lead for the remainder of the game.

In game two, Pfeiffer got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Falcons put seven runs on the board and defeat the Southern Virginia Knights 7-2 in the second game

Emma Bullin (14-4) got the win for Pfeiffer (20-7, 8-0). The right-hander went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out two. Freshman Peyton Lane also pitched well, tossing a pair of shutout innings while allowing just one hit.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Anna Jordan came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board.

The Falcons then held the Knights scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Pfeiffer offense exploded for five runs, highlighted by a one-run single off the bat of Bullin, which brought the Falcons lead to 6-0.

Southern Virginia narrowed Pfeiffer's lead to 6-2 before the Falcons stretched the advantage to 7-2 in the fifth inning. The Falcons scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Stewart, which proved to be the 7-2 final.

The win keeps Pfeiffer perfect over SVU in the all-time series between the two teams, with the Falcons leading 9-0.
