Dickerson and Bullin Pace #24 Pfeiffer Softball in Saturday Sweep at Mary Baldwin

GAME 1 | Pfeiffer 12, Mary Baldwin 3

Staunton, Va. (April 5, 2025) --Sophomore Emily Dickerson put together a stellar showing at the plate Saturday, hitting two home runs to help propel the Pfeiffer Falcons past the Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels 12-3 in the first game of a USA South doubleheader in Staunton, Va.

Senior pitcher Emma Bullin (15-4) got the win in the circle for the Falcons. The right-hander went three innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on seven hits. Freshman Peyton Lane also pitched well in relief, tossing two shutout innings while allowing just one hit, walking none and striking out one.

Dickerson went 2-for-3 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with five RBIs. Bullin added to Dickerson's awesome power-hitting performance by going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Senior E. Chopko also chipped in for the Falcons, going 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Pfeiffer scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Bullin.

After the Fighting Squirrels rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Falcons came back to retake the lead in the second inning. Sophomore L. Stewart's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Pfeiffer scored twice, which brought the Falcons lead to 4-2.

Pfeiffer kept Mary Baldwin without a run before building their lead to 10-2 the following inning. The Falcons bats heated up in the inning, scoring six runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Dickerson and a two-run single from Chopko.

The Fighting Squirrels fought back, closing the gap to 10-3 until Pfeiffer added some insurance in the fourth. The Falcons scored twice on Dickerson's two-run homer, bringing the Pfeiffer advantage to 12-3. The score remained 12-3 for the rest of the game, as the Falcons coasted to the win.

GAME 2 | Pfeiffer 3, Mary Baldwin 0

In game two,. Bullin was dominant, as she threw a shutout to lead the Pfeiffer Falcons past the Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels 3-0.

Bullin (16-4) went the distance for Pfeiffer (22-7, 10-0 USA South), scattering six hits, walking two and striking out six MBU batters.

Offensively, the Falcons were led by Landry Stewart, who went 4-for-4 in the game with a double and an RBI. Gracie Griffin put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Stewart came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board.

The Falcons then tacked on runs in the second and fourth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fourth when they scored one time. That run came across on a run-scoring single off the bat of Stewart.
