Pfeiffer Softball Travels to Salisbury University for NCAA Softball Tournament

Misenheimer, N.C. (May 12, 2025)
– The Pfeiffer University softball team will travel to Salisbury, Md. and will take on the University of Mount Union at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament as the NCAA released the field for the 62-team tournament on Monday morning.

The Falcons (35-7) are fresh off winning the USA South regular season and tournament championships for the third straight season. The Falcons are in the midst of a 23-game winning streak, the second-best mark in school history and are the No.2 seed for the Salisbury Regional.

Pfeiffer's Emma Bullin (Ararat, N.C.) and Landry Stewart (China Grove, N.C.) won USA South Pitcher and Player of the Year honors, respectively this past season. In addition to Bullin and Stewart, Pfeiffer's Gracie Griffin (Calabash, N.C.) earned All-USA South first team honors at first base. Sophomore shortstop  Ky Perdue (Asheboro, N.C.) took home All-USA South second team honors while Charly Cooper (Bullock, N.C.) was also named to the All-USA South second team as an outfielder.

Lastly, head coach Monte Sherrill captured his fourth-straight USA South Coach of the Year award.

In tournament play, Pfeiffer's Emma Bullin earned USA South MVP after going 5-0 in the circle.

The Falcons will take on the University of Mount Union of Alliance, Ohio.  Mount Union enters at 27-12 overall and finished 13-5 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.  The Purple Raiders earned the OAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament by downing Ohio Northern 3-2 in the first round of the OAC Tournament.  They went on to defeat Baldwin Wallace in the semifinals by a 4-0 score and downed the Yellow Jackets again in the championship game 8-2 to earn the OAC title.

The meeting will be the first between Pfeiffer and Mount Union and entering this seasons NCAA Tournament, the teams do not share a common opponent.
