Cooper's Blast Lifts Pfeiffer Over Westminster, 3-1

SALISBURY, Md. (May 16, 2025) -- Junior Charly Cooper belted a two-run home run to left field to break a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning, pushing the Falcons past Westminster College in game four of the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament on a sweltering afternoon in Salisbury, Md.

Pfeiffer's Emma Bullin (30-5) got the win in the circle, as she tossed a complete game giving up one run on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out six Titan batters.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Emma Chopko came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer on a wild pitch from Westminster pitcher Cheyenne Piper.

The Titans then tied the ballgame at one on an RBI double from Faith Jones before the Falcons came back to reclaim their advantage in the seventh inning. Cooper lifted a two-run homer to left field , which brought the Falcons lead to 3-1.

Pfeiffer would retire the Titans in order in the seventh, with Bullin earning the final two outs by strikeout.

GAME NOTES

» Bullin struck out six Titans hitters.
» Pfeiffer's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed two runs across.
» The Falcons had control of the rest of the game after jumping ahead of the Titans 1-0 in the top of the second.
» Pfeiffer pitchers limited Westminster (PA) to just 1-for-8 (.125) with runners in scoring position.
» Pfeiffer pitchers faced 26 Westminster (PA) hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and seven fly balls while striking out six.
» The Falcons drew five walks from Westminster (PA) pitching.
» Cooper led the Falcons at the plate, going 1 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.
» Westminster (PA) was led offensively by Faith Jones, who went 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
» Cheyenne Piper led the Titans pitching staff, throwing seven innings of three-run ball.


Game 5 vs. Mount Union
The win over Westminster pushed Pfeiffer into game five of the NCAA Regional against Mount Union, who fell in extra innings earlier in the day to host Salisbury.

The Falcons and Purple Raiders were locked in a 1-1 tie that also went into extra innings before being halted due to lightning in the area.

The game will be completed on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the point of the stoppage.  Pfeiffer has runners on first and third base with no outs with freshman Natalie Auman at the plate.

Following the completion of the game, the Pfeiffer/Mount Union winner will advance to championship round play against host Salisbury.
